Debra Silverman Reads America's Astrological Chart

America’s Astrological Chart

July 4th, 1776, at 5:10 pm in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence proclaiming the independence of the United States of America from the Queen of England. This moment created the birth chart for America.

Think of that eventful moment: A new world was found. A free world! America became the new and shiny hope for the future—for the Republic, for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Looking at the astrological chart of that magical moment, the birth of America, we see that America was born with four planets in the sign of Cancer. Cancer represents the “mother” archetype: The one who loves to give, help, and share her abundance to anyone who asks. Inherent in the tale of the ultimate giver is the Mom who forgets herself. In fact, this is the life lesson of a Cancerian personality type: to learn how to ask for help. As with all life lessons, America is still working on that one.

The Dalai Lama—like America—is a Cancer. He is the ultimate evolved Cancer. When he was in trouble with the Chinese he gathered his family of monks, they aligned and prayed together and remained intact as a family. We could learn a lot from the Dalai Lama. He teaches us how to forgive…in fact, his co-author, Victor Chan, with whom he wrote a book on forgiveness, was Chinese! His example teaches us kindness, self-care and respecting fate no matter what has been handed to us.

America Is Not Well

As I was looking at America’s birth chart I saw a transit occurring that alarmed me…Oh no, Saturn, the planet of restriction is going over our rising sign (the rising sign determines your body type and it’s health). America has Sagittarius rising, and at this moment in time Saturn is moving through Sagittarius. In other words Saturn, the planet of restriction, is on her body. America is overweight, and out of control—but no one is addressing this. And we are going to get even sicker. America is not well. We have a Cancerian personality with a not so healthy body.

So when the body of America needs attention and she is not well, what do we do?

This can go one of two ways. Either 1) America gains discipline, conserves energy, eats less, exercises more allowing the country to recalibrate to a healthy life or 2) America gets sicker, and becomes the center of attention for all the wrong reasons.

Coincidently I recently spoke to a client today with the same rising sign as our country. Just like America, she has a 14-degree Sagittarius rising sign. She has had a weight problem her whole life and in the last six months during this transit has lost over 70 pounds.

Well isn’t that funny, the influence of Sagittarius on America and four planets in Cancer (they love to eat) has had us working with weight problems—obesity is everywhere in our county. Research shows that more than two-thirds (68.8 percent) of adults are considered to be overweight or obese.

I was fascinated to hear that my client had used this transit to get herself healthy because she felt she was out of control and really needed to get her body back. She said it was so much easier under the influence of Saturn. She had no problem sticking to her diet. So maybe there’s hope for America?

Invitation To America: Seek Kindness

Right now, America needs compassion and a good family to help her out. But our collective “red, white and blue” family at the moment is very, very contentious. All we see on the news is a constant display of our dysfunctional family feud: The Democrats hating the Republicans and vice versa.

What if I said, “Mom is not well.”? Would that bring us together? Think of what you would do if your mom had just been diagnosed with a major life-threatening illness…surely, you and your siblings would be there to help, to be gentle…and not fight!

If someone handed me this chart for America and said it was their mom, I would suggest she should:

  1. Slow down.
  2. Take time for self-reflection.
  3. Be quiet and internal.
  4. Learn to ask for help.

Which brings me back to the sign Cancer, asking for help and Saturn influencing us now. These are all indicators that we need to accept what is. Accept it, folks. Whether you like it or not Trump is our next president. How do we deal with this? Well, we have no time to fight amongst ourselves while mom is sick!

My suggestion is to seek kindness. Mom needs her kids to rally around her, to be kind and attentive.

So, here is an invitation America, an invitation to seek kindness.

  • Can you sit across a table with the opposition, and stop the polarization by listening?
  • Would you be willing to ask a Republican or a Democrat why they voted as they did and agree for both of you to not interrupt and then to actually hear each other?
  • Would you be willing, in honor of the Mother’s body, to support Standing Rock as many gather together to stand up for water?

America needs our help to get along and find a way to peace; to help avoid putting pipelines into the water system risking land that is rightly promised to those who were here before, those who know how to pray and honor her body; to be honest enough to ask for help.

What do you need help with and whom can you help when it comes to the Earth?

I invite you to share your contribution with me.

Amazing reading debra, quite fascinating. Although I don’t understand how not fighting when there is a cause would be the solution. I see it more of as fighting for the health of your mother. It’s like your mother was kidnapped haha. Specially when so many people could be in even greater danger from now on, in the country and outside (as the US affects the whole world), it’s hard to see that.

I’m very sad that people in today’s world still cannot agree to disagree. One thing I chose to do the very 1st time I was legally able to vote at the age of 18 was NOT to discuss my political views. I still don’t to this very day. This goes to show a very good example as to why I don’t. Family & friends are splitting up left and right over this election & it breaks my heart. I wish everybody I knew could have read your book “The Missing Element”. I wish everyone I knew was able to have their observer on. Then again I wish everyone in this world also knew astrology as I’ve been learning it, as you already know it, and as our ancestors knew it before us. Perhaps our World wouldn’t be where it stands today. I have learned in my life that I cannot change how people feel about me nor can I change the events that have happened, are going to happen, or are happening. However what I can change is how I react to people and events. How people feel is not my business it is theirs. I try to keep an open mind, remain optimistic, and keep the peace as often as I can even if I don’t agree with another’s opinion. One would think this would be hard to do with a chart like mine. I’ve got Sun, Moon, Mercury all in Aries w/Ascendant: Gem But I’ve always been about the peace in my world. Saving lives is who I am. Keeping the peace & harmony is what drives me to do the things that I do. Discord bothers me in a big kind of way. Your videos found me just over 2yrs ago just a a very pivotal point in my life. Cancer for the sixth (6th) time found its way into my life again and was trying to take on yet another battle with my life. I just wanted to find peace again. You were that answer. I think astrology will make the peace find its way for this country in time. We just need to give it that time. We need to have faith in the planets and the stars. Just like I did with them and they brought you to me when I needed you the most. Faith is HOPE on Fire ~Keleneka

    Hi Deborah,
Thank you so much for the work you are doing online. I love this particular post, and especially the attention it brings to Standing Rock and the turmoil there. I have have several friends there, including some of the Lakota elders, and I am praying for everyone’s safety.. I hold a Thanksgiving day of listening, understanding, kindness, and gratitude and appreciation between both sides of the conflict. (Much like the WWI story of Christmas in the trenches — http://www.eyewitnesstohistory.com/trenches.htm . I’m going to FB friend request you so you can read my recent posts on this subject. I wonder if you have a thought about what might be a good post to share about this, one I can help disseminate via my FB friends, who may repost it. How is it best do we tell what’s going on there? And what is the response that we want to elicit? I want to contribute something beneficial, but more than platitudes. I’m an Aries double Capricorn, so I like ACTION, but want it to be grounded in common sense and purpose.

    Hi Julianah,

Loved your post, and specifically about WWI and the trenches. Around Memorial day I remember those men, in the trenches. My uncles died there. The story as poignant. The officers even published a newspaper at Ypres. They were so disciplined and brave. A respected medium associate of mine once taught us about the power of gratitude. We have to constantly look within and seek out all that is good and beautiful in our lives and find kindness, forgiveness and peace with our soul. Take care. Love.
