‘I never knew I was different,’ said every Aquarius full moon—until time passed and it became obvious: their choice in clothes and their interests had them standing out.

I always think of Aquarius as the sign that screams, ‘LOOK! The Emperor has no clothes!’ It just takes time before the Aquarian energy shows up with one of those one-liners.

Leo is just the opposite, and as you may know, the Astrological season just shifted.

Leo season is here (the Sun is in Leo for the next month). Aquarius (where the Moon is this weekend) is opposite Leo, and so we are in a full moon.

Leo is the part in all of us who loves to jump into the group, celebrate the family dynamics, participate in life with full conviction, and be the life of the party. They naturally fit in, because they carry the gift of family and connection wherever they go.

Over to the left is the Aquarian watching, but not without first standing apart and looking different. You must know this part of you: watching the human experience as though you are a social scientist.

One part says: ‘Life, I love you.’ Effortlessly, you enjoy every holiday, dress up for the party, buy the appropriate clothes and fully engage; while the other half says: ‘No way am I going to that party.’ First, say no, and then think about it. ‘No, I don’t want to engage in those holiday expectations. I will find my own people.’

I was just talking to a friend, and she mentioned how her family has been broken over the years. That they no longer have the same relationship. That is Aquarius. However, her husband, a Leo, has never broke the bond of his family.

It took me years to understand this energy. The push/pull dance of yes and no. That some people come with an ease to speak to the unspeakable and stand apart, while others cannot tolerate that thought.

Every full moon screams duality. Yes and No.

This one hits home for me specifically. Don’t get mad if Debbie Downer arrives. I keep thinking about the climate crisis.

While I want to ignore the climate crisis because I love this life just as it is, and I want to play like a wild woman with whatever I am handed—drama and all (says Leo) — I do feel passionate that I must address what is not so pretty. The Leo in me doesn’t want to be speaking to uncomfortable topics, but of course the Aquarius in me won’t stop.

Aquarius says: ‘You cannot ignore the pink elephant. There is a crisis that has been left behind. Just look at the science’ (and I am).

Leo says: ‘I’m alive, aren’t I? Why dive into the sad parts of life? Just participate like there is no tomorrow. Who cares?’

Aquarius: ‘I am not attached to what you want; I prefer to be the whistleblower. I live to face facts, to be in love with what no one else can love, and to seek the underdog to let him have a voice.’

‘I am caught in the middle,’ said Debra.

I am studying the hard science. I am hiring a student to help me get the scientific facts about what is going on in the oceans, on the mountains, in the coral reefs. It appears we are breaking.

‘I don’t want to be Debbie Downer,’ says every Leo Sun. ‘I am seeking to find the voice that will allow us to love this life ’til the last drop — the last breath — while not living in denial.’ At worst, Leo can say: ‘skip the negative and just focus on the fun stuff.’

I am so in this dance and would love your input in the comments below. Where do you sit on this matter?

I am preparing for a TED Talk to speak to this duality. I want to soothe with my words and not leave you cut off, dry, and filled with the science that has no hope. That’s not where I want to live.

Uranus has been squaring Saturn. This is SO LOUD! It speaks to the old (Saturn) and the new (Uranus) on a superspeed highway collision.

We, the interested Astrology students, stand in the middle asking: ‘How does this work? What are the implications?’

Face the truth? Or just have fun and let it be — there is nothing we can do anyway? I so want to hear where you live in this duality. Which side is your address?

I am determined to find a kind voice — to give us hope in the dark, and I need your input. Do you want to talk about this? Or do you need to let it go?

There are so many documentaries to watch, and I will include a list of them below.

I just know — said the Astrologer — we cannot NOT talk during this full moon. We must at least decide: the truth or fun… or both.

What do you think?

Blessings,
Debra

    Deb, I love you.
And even more for bringing this up.
I have a lot of respect for that because I feel that a lot of what’s going on, is such an issue because we are ignoring it and it is not being addressed.
It is important and I believe we can do something, and live consciously, and have fun.

That is curious as I am a Leo (Sun) + Aries (Moon) + Scorpio (Raising) and I am extremely worried about the situation is going on in the planet. I have cried and shouted for people to understand the urgency of the change, and then I realised how the way we communicate is so important for other to want to accept what you say.

My partner is an Aquarius and, even though he is open to change, it took a while for him to adopt different routines to reduce his impact. It driven me crazy that he wouldn’t keep doing the same despite of me telling him so many facts!

We are definitely day and night, but in the end we complement each other and it is wonderful.

    Hi Debra,
I am a Leo sun and Aquarius moon and I can relate to your post. One astrologer, I follow, mentioned Aquarius as the archetype of the light bearer (water being electricity) and I always like that analogy – Aquarius bringing electricity and lightning to what aspects of human nature we must address and serve as the collective. In my life, I feel that I have made many Aquarian decisions/sacrifices on the part of the whole – I am choosing not to have biological children because of the climate. I am spending my energy trying to lift up humanity instead, volunteering where I can in food pantries, etc. I don’t need to have a family because I am connected to everyone and everything -earth, humans, animals. I guess the best way I can contribute is with the help of my Leo sun and trying to offer warmth and grace to animals and humans that need connection and help. I like thinking of the two signs working in tandem to project the light I can offer. Thank you for your insights 😉

Thank you for listing all of the documentaries on Climate Crisis. I would love to be more involved in saving the planet while trying to enjoy life, become my best/higher self, grow spiritually and eventually be enlightened. I love astrology and if it were not for struggles financially due to disability I’d be signing up for both astrology and tarot classes.
    Thanks again.

  • Ad a Leo, with my moon in Gemini, and Cancer raising. Born in the year of the rabbit. I carry a lot of those traits. Plus my mother, ex-wife, and son are Aquariuans. I have dealt with the on going battle my entire life, and continue to do so. I enjoy your website, and the more I learn about myself and my Aquariusan relatives. The easier it becomes for me to handle situations, pertaining to them. At a young age my mother was molested. She has always distrusted males, (only son.)
She has proven to be deceitful, manipulative, hateful and spiteful. With me being the one She lashes out at. Thank you so much for your site. You are a blessing.

I have an Aquarian Sun degrees and. Leo rising at zero degrees…. That push pull has been my experience through out my entire life.. you have described it very well. I have always known I was different but only in my later years did I discover that other peoples mind doesn’t operate the same as mine. I now understand the personal dynamics that I move through every moment of my day…. Actually it’s quite an interesting journey…

I live in Washington state and climate change is on full display for all to see. Record temperatures and fires ? burning. My fun loving moon in Leo is in no mood to party! I have watched the specials and documentaries for years and talked with anyone who would listen to share the information. You should definitely keep speaking on the topic.

Fun topic. I am a Leo sun and Aquarius moon born on a full moon. Only am I now understanding the duality of this combo.

As an older Sag, I have learned to keep my big mouth shut. elephant? what elephant? I realize that, at times, I say things that are so obvious, at least to me, anyway. Case in point. Just this week, I posted on our Nextdoor site, a request that our mailroom was looking pretty bad, covered in spider webs and bird poop from the swallows that had in lived there. As usual , the first comment was this snide remark suggesting that I might be the “good ” neighbor to take a broom with me the next time I checked my mail! I WANTED to say ” NOT MY JOB.” But, didn’t. Afterall, we do pay people to do those things here in our small village. 40 comments later!! it appears that everyone has decided that cleaning the mailroom was a good idea.

I’m suppose to be the optimist in the bunch, but things aint lookin’ too great on the climate scale. I spend most of my day outside. And if it’s too hot, I watch the birds an d my garden from inside. but, I’m always hoping that our govenment and other nations will get up off their butts and actually make a difference before it’s too late.

I want the conversation, the truth and action items. Personally I am standing in both worlds, the truth and having fun. I drive a big diesel truck as a daily driver and just this year I have been pondering whether I can afford a small hybrid car. I also pickup trash on my walks.

  • Brandy says:

Hi Debra, I think the climate is a reflection of humanity. Where in our lives is there a drought? Fire? Yes, there are many climate changes to be seen. I am not worried about what I see with my eyes or the “science” as it is always evolving. Mother earth is going through her labour pains while she births a new world. We can always do better for the earth. This is necessary to change the course we are currently on. Humans need to come together as one to make this change. Not globalists and politicians who claim to want what is best through their legislation which only serves their interests. Climate crisis and change is the new pandemic and reason for certain players in the Family of Dark to show their cards. Im a Gemini with Cap rising. I think a lot.

  • Stephanie Gomez says:

Well. I’m Aquarius sun (conjunct mercury& mars), Leo Moon & Taurus rising. Yup full moon baby here. The concept of duality has been really gaining my interest; and, it’s something I feel a need to explore & talk about – so I feel you! In regards Earthly health & awareness – we need to be solutions oriented & promote organizations and individuals who strive to be sustainable. And on the shadow side highlighting ways the environment gets undermined by unscrupulous forces. The facets are obviously endless & honestly you may have to pick your niche. Or start like a Craigslist that has it all lol. Peace to you & yours.

  • Donna says:

I feel I’ve been walking against the traffic for 10 years now. Life took a very serious turn at around 63 (Leo Moon and Mars weren’t particularly happy about this, but serious Saturn and possibly Pluto breathed a sigh of relief). Climate change, what could I possibly do? Anything I do personally feels so futile but I have to do something even if it’s just supporting people who create and sell environmentally responsible products or services, turning off the AC, installing a water-purification system rather than drinking bottled water, buying local, walking or cycling instead of driving when possible, etc. Racial issues. How could I possibly fix the injustices done to people who have been minimized and mistreated by society for so long? Somehow learning astrology and becoming a certified empowerment coach held some clues to the answers or solutions I sought. However, writing and editing are my natural gifts. And my best use of these gifts is to support and help those who already hold centre stage regarding these and other issues rather than try to figure out what I can bring to the table in the way of information or programs. I can offer my gifts to those shining individuals who make a difference. After all, I am a Generator, not a Manifestor, and I’m content with a meaningful supporting role rather than centre stage. We all have our role to play. Figuring out what that is and where and how best to play our part, well, that’s the challenge, isn’t it? The clue lies in doing what comes naturally. And that usually sparks the fun factor.

  • Danielle says:

I fully believe that the changes we are experiencing are part of normal evolutionary changes…on the other side of this, maybe 500 years from now, we’ll start re-entering another ice age. The phases just repeat themselves. I don’t think that, based on scientific evidence I’ve read and researched, anything we do can stop or change this repeating climate cycle, that it’s destined to happen over and over again.
Says the Sun-Leo (on the last degree)/Virgo-Ascendant, lol. I am fully what you described, I live in the moment, watch what’s coming, and adjust when necessary. Sometimes Virgo wants to make plans, but not lately. I see too many people trying to take personal responsibility for what’s happening with the climate, or using it for their own devises of control and manipulation. However, Bezos wants to move us to space and other planets, so I do believe that we need to learn to behave ourselves before we go there, and be more responsible – else we’ll just take all the garbage trailing along behind us with us. By the same token, I don’t think the countries who are most responsible for the messes I see are taking any responsibility at all, and therein lies the real problem of cleaning up our Earth – and that is the source of the truly sad part.

  • Cindy McDonald says:

    Where do I begin!
As an Aquarius, a lover of astrology and an ex-wife to a Leo husband of 17 years, I have so much I’d like to say, but limted space to do so.
For starters, I have such an admiration for Leos. One of my best friends is a Leo and noone can make me belly laugh like she can. She is the most loyal & generous friend. She’s a mover and a shaker (on her terms) & is never down for long in a crisis.
Although, if there isn’t some kind of drama in her life, I don’t think she feels alive. She doesn’t have the ability to say “no,” which I have found with lots of Leos. I should clarify… she can say no, she can’t stick with no.
Her now teenagers have taken advantage of this little trait and run wild with zero boundaries. To set a boundary at the risk of her kids “not liking her” would devastate her!
Leos love & protect their families at all costs. Even when the kids are wrong, they’re right, and you can’t tell them otherwise… nor would I. I love that quality about them.
There is chaos, drama, yelling, swearing, laughing, action, parties, friends and lots of love that goes on there. They are living in the moment and having a blast doing it.
From my ex-husband, I learned to show more of an outward expression of love to my kids. He never held back on giving them hugs or playing games or wrestling with them. The Leo in him made him an excellent protector and provider.
He is fearless in his endeavors, eloquent in his speech and roars with a confidence in everything he does.
So when you mentioned the Aquarius standing apart, feeling apart & looking at the scene analyzing (paraphrasing here), you couldn’t be more spot on!
For me personally, I look upon the scene (from my out-of-body perspective, as we Aquas are known to do) with much respect at Leos ability to just ‘BE.’ They are who they are in full living color. They are in their bodies actively “being” at every moment.
That is something I always wished I could do, but my mission on earth takes me somewhere outside of it. And being the Aquarius that I am, I’m perfectly OK with it. Living on planet Elsewhere is my forever home.

  • Mischelle Johnson says:

I guess I feel the push pull a lot too. I feel the ground under foot. It used to be soft and mushy. Now it is hard. Most of the trees in my yard died. And, yet I keep planting flowers. Today on a walk I noticed the once called invasive plants embraced in the parks and in people’s yards. I plan to do the same. Gardening is an act of faith. We are putting in solar and count ourselves lucky to have the means to do that. So many people don’t. I try to not notice the haze in the air from the fires in the west and report to my husband that the sky looks not quite cloudy. I take walks. I enjoy aromatherapy. I meditate. I talk and laugh with my family and enjoy food just a bit too much. Life is filled with good things and bad things. Today has been a rollercoaster -bad, good, good, bad, roll with it then good again. Maybe this push pull is on a larger scale than the ups and downs of daily life. Yes, climate change IS serious. I don’t want grandchildren though I yearn for them. For now there is what there is to be savored. How we conduct our lives and the footprints we leave are personal choices. Well, as you can see my ultimate question is “Is what I am doing responsible” “Am I judging?” Uggg. Is this all to be expected from a Libra?

  • Everette Gould says:

Humans are FOOLISH AND DISGUSTINGLY EGOTISTICAL to for one microsecond that we can control the climate. One, yes one volcano erupting or asteroid hitting us can negate or multiply anything we do in a negative way. So, to let ourselves be regulated by the governments of the world, to only benefit their grips on the wealth and power in this lifetime is unfair to everyone else that lives on Earth. Earth will be be fine. With or without humans, species will go extinct and new ones will take the place of the old. THAT IS THE WAY OUR BIOSYSTEM WORKS. We ARE NOT GOD. We may be co-creators according to some, but the evidence proves otherwise by purely scientific standards. That’s duality at its finest. Smoke yourself some DMT. Meet the truth in Source and Creation. Visit the true reality first, before trying to have anything, in this 3D reality we all share, be forced on the beings dwelling in it. Including, but not limited to, conclusions that are drawn from numbers collected during 1/1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000th of the history of this planet. If even that much. Consciousness has nothing to do with this realm. It will not be affected.

  • Brenda says:

Let’s do both. I’m a libra. We need to see the elephant in the room and talk about it and see how we can make changes and also find the joy in the life that we chose to live. We chose to be here at this time. How can we heal. Make the best of it. Have conversations with a kind voice and curious energy. Yes to both. Conversation and fun. You can do this Debra. We can do this.

  • Annett Garner says:

    Dear Debra,
I never do this…leave a reply…until now. I am an Aries Sun, Aquarius Moon and Aquarius Rising. I recently completed your Level 2 Applied Astrology course and your full moon message this month hits home on so many levels for me. I feel like my Soul is getting stronger and I love it. For so many years, I tried to conform and fit in the molds that seemed were everywhere yet I couldn’t make it work. I tried to go along with what the others were already doing and saying as I thought I was supposed to. After all, the ones who were here before me surly knew what they were doing so much better than me. I felt like I was a puppet with strings, getting pulled and manipulated to do and behave “the way we’ve always done it”. And I’ve always had “who decided this” and “is this all there is” questions. What’s true for me now is that my ego can try to overstep my Soul, but it will eventually be okay with what my Soul wants. I’ve been able to make friends with my ego and know that it only wants to protect my Soul from getting hurt. My Soul though is here to bring awareness and to help people find their way back to their true Selves. Right at the moment, I am learning that there will always be people who are not ready to hear what I have to say, but that doesn’t mean that what needs to be said, needs saying any less than if they were on the same path with me at this time. I believe that our Souls are filled with love and all of the goodness in the universe and that is where they operate from – and so that’s what the communication is filled with. And if out of 100 people, even just one other Soul hears, it was so worth it because they will share and so on.
My brain is asking if this reply pertains at all to the message you sent, and my heart is answering “yes”. Perhaps we can have fun discovering the truth and even more fun when we become aware of how much power we as individuals have to make a difference for humanity and therefor our planet – one person at a time.

  • Athina says:

The Leo energy in me says get out in nature, there you remember what you are made of, that everything is connected and that I am but a drop in the ocean. Enjoy, share her beauty, laugh, love and be joyous. The Aquarian energy in me says, speak up, speak out and share, even if you’re standing alone. What we are doing to Mother Nature is hurting us, the poison in our soil, the overfishing of our oceans, the poisons in our water, the emfs in our air, and the killing of our forests. Speak now or forever hold your peace

  • kate12 says:

Hi Debra, this post has me thinking: Where do I stand?

The answer that arises for me (the one that feels light, not contracted) is that waking up, coming into a higher awareness of who we are and why we are here, is the way to go. How many can say they know the answer to those questions deep down? To paraphrase the old song by Neil Sedaka, “waking up is hard to do.” The distractions alone are monumental, but also there’s the courage it takes (Leo roaring) to face the darkest aspects of ourselves in order to unconditionally love it all and heal.

Yet it’s only from the spacious energy of unconditional love that we can receive inspiration & clarity on how to help Mother Earth. If we take action from fear — and so much of what we hear “outside” ourselves is full of warnings & dire predictions — then we’re only adding darker and more dense energy to the equation.

As always, the answer, imo, is more love, not less. Meeting fear (our frightened inner aspects) with expansive love (’cause that’s who we really are) will inspire ideas & actions that can heal ourselves & our beautiful, generous Mother Earth…#NoDoubt

With a Natal Moon in Aquarius in the Balsamic Phase, I have seen the writing on the wall from the beginning of my life, which began 47 years ago. I have Virgo Rising and cannot help but care about the health of humanity, the Earth Mother and so forth. My Moon is in a Waning Quincunx with my Ascendant. I am feeling the pressure and the push to stop hiding in the shadows and speak up on a multitude of subjects. It’s true what you said in your Virgo video that we are the experts on health and need to share what we know about that. Overcoming the voices that tell me to hold back and creating a website so I can put myself out there in service, have really been at odds with each other. Believing that I was chosen for this is a tall order to fill. My Ascendant is the apex of a YOD, Moon in the 6th and Chiron in the 8th.

I feel we must speak Truth but with an attitude of hope for what we can accomplish individually and collectively. Otherwise, we are accepting the role of victim and finger pointing, rather than assuming the responsible role of creators of our collective future. Besides, isn’t this THE GRAND BATTLE of “Ascen-Dance” vs Acquiescence,? These are the things that need to be addressed as we struggle to uplift ourselves out of 3rd Density towards 5th Density. The philosophy of manifesting through unconditional love.

  • Artemis Walden says:

I grew up in a home devoted to organics as a way of life. I grew up with my toxicologist professor and researcher mother and stay at home Dad (who has been a tax person, computer programmer and now most fulfilled as a massage therapist) constantly explaining to me how the environment is impacted and our bodies are effected by chemicals and what carcinogens are in what… My sister (Leo Sun, Taurus Moon, either Capricorn or Virgo Rising… Strong Aquarius placements too) and I appreciate this knowledge but ultimately me (zero degree Cancer sun, Taurus Moon, Sagittarius Rising, Saturn 12h on my Asc, Uranus also in Sagittarius but in my first house) decided that everything is gonna kill you so the best choice is to do what you enjoy and do all you can to be proactive to avoid what you know is really bad for you.

I as a Sagittarius dominant chart with Jupiter as my chart ruler tend to advocate for optimism. Our awareness of all the awful is key in our ability to pinpoint how to move past it. Focusing on the problem isn’t the pathway to the solution. When my wonderful aunt (Libra Libra Libra) would sit in front of the computer sobbing for hours at a time for weeks watching oil spill into the ocean ALL I wanted for her to do was find a way to shift her focus from it. Her dwelling did nothing to change it. And it took her energy and drive away from the actions she could be making to impact elsewhere. She did finally step into this perspective herself. But it took time. Sometimes, I think, I feel, individuals are the outlets for the Universe, the Earth’s observation and experience of events from a certain perspective and sometimes that means ya gotta dwell a bit, feel the rage, feel the pain, suffer with the moment of insanity we are in the midst of. I think of the cultures where there are practices of sacred rage… Like the whirling dervishes, I’m blanking on the sect but they laugh in maniacal suffering as a transmutation process. Sometimes you must go thru times of getting lost in the pain, in the madness of it to inspire yourself into the reactionary mindset of “Nope, it may not be what it was BUT THERE IS A POSSIBILITY OF SOMETHING GOOD ANYWAY AND WE, I, AM GOING TO FIND IT.”

By embracing the duality, we dig so deep we find that 3rd way, the middle way, to transcend and transform and rebirth… To crack open the sacrilege into the sacred. Pure 8th house opportunity.

The Universe knows what it is doing, I choose to have faith, because stressing into panic only ever limited what possible outcomes I could see from being in a restricted/constricted fear state.

    We got this.

  • Missy Sorrells says:

The Aquarius in me (Uranus on my Ascendant) is very concerned about climate change and what we are doing to Mother Earth. The Leo in me (hidden in my 12th House) gets overwhelmed when I try to figure out what I can do PERSONALLY (Leo) to make a big impact. I do small things as much as I can (recycle, try to conserve and not waste)… but I’m at a loss on knowing how to personally (Leo) step into actions that will serve a bigger purpose (Aquarius)….

  • Please talk about this duality Debra.
    It’s fascinating.
My partner is Aquarius with his moon in Taurus. His ascendant sign is Leo.
I’m Sagittarius with my moon in Scorpio and ascendant sign in Aquarius.
I’m not sure what this all means for the two of us.

  • Nicci Brown says:

This is such an interesting topic! Thank you! I have felt this duality for the last year and a half since Covid began. I am a fun loving, optimistic person who is also very sensitive to energies. I live in British Columbia, Canada where the month of June has been one long, dry windy heat wave with forest fires scattered all around. We wake to smoke and fall asleep to smoke. One part of me wants to kick up my heels and say wahoo to summer, let’s do this! The other side feels the heaviness and the suffering of people, animals, insects, birds, plants, trees, water, air… I feel a sense of hypocrisy if I jump for joy and celebrate life. When I sense the suffering, I want to spring into action and make it all better. But the issue is bigger than just myself so there is a strange sense of helplessness. Instead, I crave stillness and quiet more than ever before. While people are out boating on the lake, I want to retreat into stillness and just listen. I’m not sure what I am listening for, but I feel that if I am quiet long enough, the answers will come. I am destined to do great things and sometimes feel like I can change the world. (Big concept, I know). So, I sit. Best of luck with your TED Talk!! So exciting! Have fun. ;-))

  • Lakia says:

Thank you Debra for breaking down the energy that I have been experiencing for about the last 5 weeks since my ex showed up. That same issue is on the table. And I wanna talk about it. I’m Putting it into God’s hands and I pray he helps find a solution.

Don’t do Facebook or other social media except Zoom!!). So keep the ideas flowing and I’ll be good. In Love, Light, and Peace, Linda H.

  • Janiece Young says:

Hi there, this is my first time to your blog!
I feel as though I can speak to this dichotomy. I’m Scorpio with Leo rising/Aquarius moon.
I understand the duality on a physical level as well as mental, emotional and best of all spiritual.
The key is find a healthy balance. Both facing the truth as well as living life and having fun. Accepting your truths is acceptance of self. At the deepest core. Your yin and your yang. Your masculine and your feminine energies of both Leo and Aquarius. They both exist in men. They both exist in women. The society I see…there’s a major imbalance in the collective. The universe realizes this and is shifting to create a balance. The imbalance is toxic to the environment on 3D physical level. The universe is upgrading its energy. Accepting that these aspects do exist in this human experience raises your vibration to help Mother Earth. Both energies matter. Divine purpose. The purpose of life is to experience it all. To discover what is true for you so that we may be our most authentic selves without critic. It is the direction these energies are leading toward. Living from a more heart based place. To discover your heart’s desires. To discover what makes your heart sing. To trust in the universe/spirit/God…whatever you believe in to help carry out your souls contract. To believe in divine timing. Embrace both sides. Face reality but understand it’s an experience meant to teach you something. All while realizing that you can still HAVE FUN in the experience of human life. I pray this resonates and was helpful ?

Great dilemma, Debra!! ~ Looking forward to your TedTalk about Duality… When we live in the moment, we can have fun & truth. When we think too much about the way we have abused Mother Earth and how are we going to clean it up in time, it is daunting!! ~ I sign a lot of petitions to help make changes for our planet and the animals. Thanks for sharing all the links because we all need to be more aware and take whatever action we can, even if it’s taking a shopping bag to the store to decrease the use of plastic. Ultimately, I have to trust that everything is in Divine Order. ~ I’m a GEMini with Aquarius rising & Capricorn moon ~ 🙂

  • Lynda says:

Aquarian Sun, Cancer Rsing, Scorpio Moon here. We, as humans, may suffer due to climate change. Indeed, we already are. What has been set in motion is in motion. Now, it’s up to us to take care of our part of the garden and realize that Gaia will prevail with or without us. We can destroy ourselves but not this planet. My thoughts.

  • Brenda Cottrell says:

I have always wanted to talk about this. In the 70s when I was in grade 9 I remember learning about what we now call climate change if we didn’t change our course- and here we are! I’m a Leo sun (libra rising, Sagittarius moon) that’s never felt like a Leo, I frequently feel as you describe the Aquarius. It’s weird and I have to learn why, but there’s so much to learn and so little time lol thank you for this!

  • Niki says:

Oh my Debra,u are so awesome, thank u for all u do ,have studied, learned, share ,and are able to put into words.
I’m an aquarius sun,a turn in leo in opp. Gree o that sun, both square to Uranus rising. I have always identified with the ‘humanitarian’yet felt parad8xicallt like we are killing ourselves and one another,by harming the planet, ecology. I’ve always recognized that and wanted to do something to help. Even more so after having cancer and feeling life slow to almost cease allowing more time to examine every little thing i(we) think and do everyday,(,add to that becoming crazy chemically sensitive,) and how so many seemingly small choices affect us all. Products, and foods are huge, and of course water, the no.1 most important thing…anyway,so many ponderings and things weighing on the soul,,,definitely feeling more of this heaviness, and not knowing what I can do lately but, also wishing i could just feel and experience the simple Joy’s and beauty life can offer while I am able. I think there are just so many people that are living life so fast and maybe even not for themselves,or for their and / or collective soul gain so to speak at all, that ther remains a disconnect not only with nature, but with what I’ve come to feel our overall lifes’ purpose is…to love, the earth, and one another, and to experience life on earth and find and create harmony with all.

Please continue learning about the science, so that you may teachable the hard facts.
This Doomsday approach may dismay some.
Hopefully, the facts, and what we can do to mitigate those facts, can be helpful to the people/nations to wisen up.

Hi Deb – So truth or fun? Of course it’s both!!
Climate change is normal – What!!
Well I’m pretty old and truth is there are changes because humans aren’t stagnant – what’s new today about every twenty years but technology is moving faster which is truth –
Fun needs to be incorporated in order not to go should I say insane or feel life is hopeless ?
Sooo we have both – Truth & Fun are equally important to balance our life!!

    Thanks for asking
    María –

  • Lauren+Falwell says:

We need to face the truth, while still having fun. There are simple things we can all do daily, to make a difference. Use less water!!! Thank the earth!! Recycling, up cycling, turn old, into new. Walk/Bike instead of driving, when applicable. Fill soup kitchens with canned/dry goods, for those who need. Take blankets and clothes not worn any longer, to churches and community clothes drop offs! Offer kindness and a helping hand wherever you go! We’re in trouble now. We can do better!! We need to do better!! We need to face the harsh reality, if we don’t do better now? We won’t have anything to do better for later. Namaste ??

  • Andréanne says:

I am a Leo Sun and Aquarius Full Moon too. I relate so much with what you I am always fighting this social duality. Not so easy because people don’t always understand why I can be so funny and the minute after, want to be alone observing and reflecting about the weirdness of life and people. I love to be different and also be part of a social group, Family is very important for me but always felt like the black sheep. Thank you for addressing this.

  • Beth Witherspoon says:

I thinknwe can do both! Perhaps that is because my sun is in Aquarius and my ascendant is in Leo. I am dying to quench my thirst in win/win situations. By engaging in behavior that will save the earth (and ultimately ourselves) we create new business’s and practices that will bring a plethora if jobs(i.e. massive alternate energy roll outs) along with sustainability that also frees us from financial enslavement because we are using sustainable, natural energy. I have found many ways of improving our life by reducing waste, using only natural-chemcial free food and products, ultimately have saved a ton of money and are we are happier and healthier. My stance is that if we make any decision no matter how small or large, it must be win/win and if it is not, then we must go back to the proverbial drawing board and get more creative. This is how my husband and I run our business (and he is a Leo). I have such a different vision for this world and I do not see why it cannot happen as I cannot tolerate nay sayers. We all need to get iff our butts with enthusiasm and create the world we want. This kind of change is so exciting that it will comfort us during the bumpy transition days because we know what we are working on transforming is so much better!!!

  • Terri says:

    Hi Debra,
Thanks for all that you do and are doing. It is my understanding that the Earth is going to be OK no matter what. With or without human life on the planet, the Earth will go through whatever changes are necessary to find it’s balance and to reach it’s rightful place in the cosmos. Whether human life continues on Earth is another story and another question. Each of us can do our best to raise our consciousness and in so doing raise the consciousness of all around us. It is time for humanity to embrace the feminine, to embrace the Mother, to embrace the Earth. Peace.

  • Loree says:

I feel like we do what we can. Participate when it’s available and raise awareness. We always talking about it, but really the smallest actions can make a difference. Create awareness!

  • Sonya says:

Beautiful blog, Debra. Congratulations on the Ted Talk! It will make an impact because you have a powerful, compassionate, fun, truthful voice. I have started to look for the miracles, and I love your idea of the ripple effect. One action step I’ve take is to send a positive intention out to the planet for healing. Another one is supporting World Wildlife Fund, which is working tirelessly to aid this planet and deter its destruction. A miracle. You talking about this topic. A miracle. People joining communities to promote Earth consciousness and breaking away from totalitarian control. A miracle. Taking one small action to preserve, protect, and heal our Earth every day. A miracle. Leo takes joy in the miracles. Aquarius takes joy in the ripple effect. In that way, we can bridge the two. I admire you so much, Debra, for not burying your face in the sand. You epitomize the best of the Aquarian Age, and I honor you.

  • I anticipate the uranian energy to magnify/electrify the existing left over pruned saturn foundation with new ideas potentially from exiting science that spark the creativity, flair and heart necessary to ignite the Aquarian way to unite behind that which serves us all.

And we shall sing and dance in the streets.

    Bring it on Lion’s Gate!!

  • Deborah J says:

I so often feel this push pull of where to stand with the whole climate crisis… One hand says we are evolving and evolution means cycles and cycles means climate change… We just happen to be the consciousness experiencing this one at a more accelerated speed… We all need to be more mindful of our beautiful earth, but what I feel many people who, dare I say, have not yet fully awakened, don’t realise is…. We are consciously creating our existence, our reality, we are Co-creators with God, the Universe, Source, whatever you want to call it… Therefore, you create what you focus on…. The reason we have so much issues with climate is because we are focusing on the issues and creating more of the same. We need to celebrate the beauty and success of nature. So we can create more of the same… Does this make sense?? Where our attention goes our energy flows… What’s needed is more conscious awareness of the fact we are living in a Universal experience where we are attracting like for like, we are creating our environment, which is why the world is in so much desperate pain now… Because we have been ctmrying out for freedom for many years and it’s being given to us… Albeit, not in the way we would like, but the Universe gives us exactly what we want and what we focus on… Right now, with everything we are experiencing in the world, we are being given what we are focusing on…. So… In my opinion… We need as many people to become more conscious, learn to interpret their world and see what’s really going on, to see how we create and understand then how to create what we want…not what we don’t want. It’s simple, but not necessarily easy… We ideally need to focus on celebrating nature and how amazing she is at doing her own thing, how amazing she is at regenerating, how amazing she is in our lives, how she helps and nurtures us and we need to celebrate that in schools, in our homes, in our lives… The reason we are experiencing climate change is because we are being called to look at the wound, what… What is the wound??? The wound is that we are disconnected and don’t understand nature… We see it as a backdrop…

When we are in a relationship that doesn’t work, it’s not because the other person is bad.. They are simply offering us a mirror to show us the wounds in ourselves which we have buried and which are buried so deep they hurt us and come to us, to be resolved, through other people…. Hence why we can break up with somebody and keep attracting the same person over and over till we heal the part of us that we keep attracting…. Climate Change is no different…. The issue is not climate change… What climate change is doing is showing us in the mirror how disconnected we have become from the earth, she’s not asking us for band aids or to try and ‘fix’ her… No more than we can fix a relationship by making the other person better, or who we want them to be… The wound is in us, the wound is we have forgotten the meaning of connecting with nature, who we are, why we are here, and climate change is simply showing us the wound….

We need to become more conscious… Uncover who we are…. Reconnect with our inner wisdom… Learn to interpret our world and the messages in everything we see…. remember we are powerful manifestor, that we are creating our own world, and then… And only then… Will we tackle issues like climate control….

Or at least that’s my mission, that’s part of the work I do, and that’s how I am living my life….

Or at least that’s my twopence worth xxx

  • Laura J Stanley says:

I am right there with You Debra! I think that the only way to solve our climate crisis is to make a game or a quest out of it. Start giving big parties when someone makes a break through in recycling innovation, like the Oscars. Let’s make it a positive prayer time, a Hollywood Red Carpet Bash, a feel good everyday because You didn’t have any trash today!

  • Emily says:

I feel a pull between the two, I’m an Aquarius rising and maybe that has to do with it, it makes sense. I think about the environment often, sometimes to the point that it feels overwhelming and I decide to ignore it altogether, then I get back on this surge of activism, wanting to speak, scream, stamp my feet, as yet another disaster strikes or I see a ton of garbage splayed all over the park/beach, as a young person who’s in my early 30s, this sometimes also makes me second guess wanting children altogether, heavy. I definitely DO care about the environment, and I want to help create better solutions, but I also live in a country where this seems like a helpless cause. I feel that sometimes there are just TOO many people to educate, and the issue of careless polluting is rooted in deeper religious, social issues that I can’t solve. Sometimes I feel like I want to ignore the issue all together and live my life, and on other days I feel like I need to quit my job and become an environmental activist. Ha

  • Rosina says:

    Dear Debra,

Thank you for asking for our input. I have a lot to say on these subjects! (Capricorn sun, Aquarius rising, Gemini moon). I am an organic gardening coach and designer. https://newearthhomeandgarden.com/

I see the dysfunction in our world: our culture, our ecology, our food systems, the mental health of our people and our systems, and our entire biosphere. Sometimes, I do not want to hear the news. However, whenever I can, I think about and talk about the solutions, and the ideal goals we can strive for.

I watched the documentary you recommended, called “Tomorrow” (aka “Demain”). Thank you. This movie inspired me, along with this one: https://kisstheground.com/thesoilstory/ and a few others.

Yes, I want to talk about it. Yes, for those who have the stomach to talk about it, we need to use our collective brains to come together with solutions. To me, this means personal action (recycling, going organic, education, speaking up in our personal spheres of influence, etc) along with activism (holding polluters responsible, boycotting large corporations like Coca-Cola and Amazon, who do more damage than individual actions ever could). For those with a strong stomach or not, we all have the power to imagine, think about, dream about, talk about, sing about, and create the SOLUTIONS. Stop focusing on all the possible dystopian horror stories of the future. What good will that do? As Brene Brown says, rehearsing the worst-possible-scenario doesn’t help us prepare for it if / when it actually happens. I have experienced / witnessed that this kind of thinking can actually facilitate worst-case-scenarios to happen! Stop having the “I’m a powerless victim” / “there’s nothing I can do” / “the end of the earth is inevitable” mindsets.

Instead, put the power of our minds (and subsequently, our actions) into the solutions NOW. Simply IMAGINING all the best-case scenarios is powerful, and it can also soothe the soul. Nothing happens unless we imagine it first. “What we focus on, increases,” say the Buddhists. Become aware of the running thoughts in our brains, and we can harness the power to create our future. Science is recognizing the mind-body connection, and the power of attitude and thoughts to impact tangible reality.

Books that have influenced me are: You Are The Placebo by Joe Dispenza, and The Biology of Belief by Bruce Lipton, among others.

    More Power to You!

Thanks for all you do, Debra, and thanks again for asking.

I’m so much into it, and I’ll be the voice for people around me , also I’ll tell the truth about the selfish people around me who don’t care about their maids and hurt them even though I lose my position. I don’t want fun when my heart feels sad about other people.

  • Jacki Shaw says:

We do Both and then some.
As you and others have taught me, we find our balance in the center. So we honor both sides, each in their own way. As for “Debbi downer” she has a right to have her panties in a bunch! But in order to speak to people so that they can take it ya have to do what I used to tell my employees… “If you see a problem, great. Now when you bring it to me, come with three possible solutions and we’ll go from there. “

  • Tanja K. Jensen says:

Well, as I am a Leo with the moon in Aquarius, I know just what you are talking about. It is spot on.
It is not easy finding out who you really are when you are pushed and pulled at the same time through out your whole life.
You can learn to understand and love the possibilities it gives you, but you need to know where to look.
    Thank you for this.

  • Krysza says:

    Face the truth!!
~ says Scorpio sun, Taurus moon, Capricorn ascendant 🙂

  • Norma+Jean says:

Oh yes, it seems that I chose the truth over fun. I’m sad to say that because I tend to always choose fun. Fun is fun! Truth sometimes hurts. Well, last night I not only spoke the truth, I freakin’ SCREAMED it! It wasn’t pretty but it needed to be said. Perhaps it didn’t need to be SCREAMED across the neighborhood but when no one is listening to me, my inner head cheerleader emerges and demands that you listen to me. Sometimes, I absolutely shock myself. I might be a little tiny 100 lb person but the super power that I have residing in my vocal chords and diaphragm is truly an awesome thing to behold, experience and hear. Wowza!!!

  • Norma+Jean says:

Yay! Guess I don’t have to “watch from the sidelines observing things as a social scientist would …”
Because guess what?!!! I just happen to be a social scientist.
    Yay! Cool.

I’m interested but does it cost….I love to learn I’m a cancer sun, aquarius moon. I am.different and like to stand out but at times I dont. I like to be behind the scenes Haha. I always go back and forth on it. No then yes. Love your thoughts. So yes.

Interesting, I’m Aquarius with an additional 4 planets in Aquarius plus north node Leo. My guides have been telling me to have fun since forever so taking that with your write up I take it that I should change the world while having a blast with others, family and friends.

    Hi Debra,

    Im a Scorpio…with a fixed square at 21-22 degrees Sun/scorpio in the 2nd, Chiron/Aquarius in the 5th, Moon/Taurus in the 8th and Uranus/Leo in the 11th house. My Saturn is in Capricorn 4 degrees…3rd house….thinking/speaking disicplines
Alot is coming to the surface currently….Im reading a book by David R Hawkins….”Letting go, the pathway to Surrender” for the 2nd time, and Im integrating/understanding it, the unprocessed/surpressed negative emotions that we have been taught to hide, cover….need to be felt/allowed without attempting to change them, so they shift clear….and we can stop repeating the same stuff over and over…..(maybe this is my moon in the 8th-you must feel your pain…to let go of the past?)
The yin/yang comes to mind….you cannot understand the light, untill you embrace the dark.

  • Marge Opacki says:

When it comes to environmental concerns, I am pulled between deep concern and wanting to simply enjoy the beauty and wonder this earth can bring (at least in my backyard). However, lately, concerns and worries have really been dominating. So much to be concerned about and I think “what can I do?”. Earlier this year, I decided to donate monthly to a cause that supports research into technological solutions to reduce climate change. I don’t make a lot of money, but I remind myself that every bit helps. And now, even though it’s hard to avoid seeing problems (bare trees, litter on the street, super hot days), I try to make a concerted effort (it can be hard) to focus on the good things I still see (the tree with leaves, a pretty garden, a bird flying). It’s a balance that can go either way depending on the day, but I am trying to enjoy things while doing what I can to address problems. I’m a Pisces with a moon in Libra and an ascendant Pisces.
