Throughout my life I have carried the gift and curse of this exact configuration-Aries and Libra. It’s two sides of a coin. One side ultra-independent, having no need for approval or a partner, to go do exactly what calls my name. The other side so codependent that I fell in and out of love too many times to count, and had to scrape my heart off the wall called “oh no, not again.”

At the age of 20—off I went to the Wrangell Mountains in Alaska alone. I encountered a grizzly bear late at night, and thankfully two men took me into their tent. That was scary. Having not told my parents what I was doing– they were so mad at me when I returned from Alaska.

What young woman goes off, by herself, to the Alaskan frontier? That’s my Aries.

By 21 I was in love with a man 15 years my senior, a professor at Harvard. In the end I had to leave him behind when his idea of an open marriage broke my heart, resulting in true love gone wrong. That was my hopeless romantic that believed in love, no matter what.

Hello Libra rising who cannot resist that feeling of LOVE…

You must have one of these two flavors in your chart?

Are you a free spirit that cannot be tied down — said every wild stallion running through the pastures?

Or do you sign up for love at all costs-with each love affair you refine and polish what true love can become or NOT?

This full moon is asking you to stand away from judgements of both sides-the independent and the codependent.

“I can never do commitment or find the right person” —or “I am so bound by this dated love for good or bad I cannot believe it’s here for the staying.”

It’s all a circle, one life you are bound, the next you are free. Some of you know true love and others seek enlightenment—which too often is a solo event.

Which one are you doing in this life?

And can you recommit to whichever your karmic contract asked for?

This is what every full moon asks: can you celebrate what is? I am celebrating this time—any excuse for a chance to eat well, dance or sing—count me in.

Full moons are always yelling, come outside, look up. Celebrate what is and keep your eye on Astrology, that’s how you’ll get to know me, said the Moon.

Blessings,
Debra

  • True love AND enlightenment. Replacing all the ors with ands. Freedom AND a committed heart. True love gives the freedom-seeker wings.

I fucking love you so much!

Thanks so much for this! I am an Aries with Libra rising and feel conflicted much of the time. But strong Aries usually wins the day. In other words … I can relate!

Aries Moon. Libra Rising. Last degree of Scorpio Sun.
After reading your post, which so resonated I will think of myself as a double sided coin!
I will be 63 on 22.11., have just come out the other side of a 6 year messy divorce after being with my ex since 1978. I have found freedom and bliss that I have never experienced in my life but still would like to find a true love. ?

This full moon I will walk with direction, purpose and gratitude. My gemini sun got me this far, Sagittarius rising reminds me not to skim the surface but to go deep into yourself and revel in the mastery of a subject. Life is a philosophical exercise, speak the truth-practice the role of observer and employ discernment leaving judgement to rot in the field. I never realized that I have so much Cardinal fire, water and air and that movement, initiating and persevering are hallmarks of well…me. Go, move, give up having to be first, or having to win, enjoy the journey- find Joy in the Now and you may live forever.

    Excellent!

I have both–Libra ascendant and Mars in Aries in my 7th house. I clearly signed up for some serious codependence and independence education in this lifetime. I should have my doctorate by now. Laughing. Crying. Cue Elton singing, “It’s the Circle of Liiiiiiiifffffffeeeeee…..!”

My coin has been spinning, not falling on one side or the other. Natal Sag sun with a progressed Libra moon.
    Independent And Co-dependent

  • Jean says:

Hi Debra, my sun is in Libra and my moon is in Aries, Sag rising. My husband was an Aries. Opposites attract for sure, although I believe I became too co-dependent with him. The other side of the coin is he sees me as a very strong independent person. We tried therapy and he decided not to go any longer. I wanted to work it out even though we weren’t good for each other. Is this typical of an Aries and Libra relationship?

  • Vicki says:

I am Scorpio sun , Libra moon, and Libra ascendant. I so understand…..Scorpio doesn’t care what ANYONE thinks, and is uber independant, and Libra wants people and wants to please. Understanding WHY I’m such an “air head” after understanding astrology a bit more, has been so helpful. And then, Can you imagine how surprised and confused people become when my 2/3’s Libra personality takes out a Scorpio tail and stings them.? . (what’s worse, is that because I have double Libra in my chart, they must have REALLY deserved it, or I wouldn’t have brought the Svorp side out into the light, but they just can’t understand my behavior…????. No One expects a sweet Libra personality to do such a thing.

    Hi dear Deborah!
Liber Sun Libra rising, i’ve had a lot to learn about love and loving myself. What an adventure this life! Thank you for your wisdom and insights. And of course your lighthearted humor. I hope to visit Kauai in the dear near future. I’ll let you know if and when…

Love your story and as I am pisces and libra in western astrology I have lived in a long marriage. In eastern astrology I am both fire and water snake and 3 kombination of metal and water as my day of birth. Metal is the number 9 . Love from Majken

Aries and Libra play a big part in my life as well. 4° Aries on my Midheaven conjunct Eris / Pars Fortune.
4 Libra 4th house conjunct Neptune e Libra 3rd house and Venus 8 Libra 4th house.
Two short marriages and a 31 year marriage to a man 21 years older. Whew. No more marriage for me.

At 77, I have a very hot relationship with a genuine good guy. We live in our own places yet have good together time. After all, I have Uranus 4 Gemini 11th house!!!
Your videos are very helpful in knowing energies. Often I say, that’s the influence. I do share.
    Thank you.

Libra rising here as well.. bound to an out of date relationship although I suspect we shared past lives … I’d like to ask how one gleans their Karmic position ? And how to enhance the lessons ? I’ve felt Karma breathing down my neck for years and really, I’d like to land somewhere safe one of these days! Thanks Debra I so enjoy your writing

  • Joan Carol Lieberman says:

Debra, I have always connected strongly with Aries, my rising sign. I appreciate your honesty & subsequently vulnerability in describing slices of your Life’s experiences. Honesty, being a trait, which many individuals in this world are afraid of, precisely because it makes us vulnerable. Sincerely, Joanie

My NN is in Libra so my SN is in Aries. I love to have both: be in love and committed but with moments or being just me myself and I.

  • Adriana Miller says:

I love this! My North Node in Aries understands and feels all of this 🙂

  • Linda+Crose-Andersen says:

I am Aries sun and Libra rising. I can totally relate to what you are saying about love and independence. I just keep praying I will find the guy that will accept me as I am. I had an ex-boyfriend who was from Paris who told me, “If you want unconditional love, get a dog,” so I did! Years later I still mourn her death, she was my true soulmate.

  • Tracey says:

Sag sun and rising Aquarius Moon yet a stellium in Capricorn. Wishing to be free and enlightened yet committed and stuck in a relationship well passed its use by date. A work in progress.

  • Nancy Belle says:

Been with my soulmate for 27 years. (Married 26). He’s a Scorpio and I’m a Pisces. He has a Gemini asd and I have a Scorpio one… but the tie in my second marriage is our mutual Aries Moons!
My Ex and I were married 20 years but it should not have lasted a month! He had an Aquarius Moon like my mother and was soooo hot and cold! And a bit crazy at times too when drinking. Now I am happy with my second Scorpio (non-drinker like me) as I believe the Moons being the same can make such a difference in understanding each other. My marriages are like Night and Day even tho both were Scorpio!

  • Sharla says:

Hi Debra! Thank you for this! I’m a Libra sun and Aires moon and I feel I’ve spent the majority of my life trying to balance the two, so I really relate. I’ve felt so crazy at times because the Aires really pulls at me to go at it alone and be independent, but I love family as well. I’ve been married for 14 years to a Pisces. He’s great, but I still struggle with feeling held back in some way. A spiritual teacher once told me I feel like a race horse hooked up to a plow. This sums up my life, but I work on letting go and believing that it’s all for a reason and for my evolution on this planet this time around. I’d love to hear more about this dynamic. Again, thank you. ?

  • Terri says:

I’m a double Sag with a Libra moon and my Saturn is in Aries. This is the story of my life. I’m so codependent yet independent seeking freedom and exploration. I want to find true love and be free.

  • Louise Boeger says:

My Libra sun and Aries moon can get every word of this text. It’s a crazy configuration to live in, but its the only one i’ve known in this life, so it feels extremely natural for me, being independent AND loving love at the same time.

  • Andrea says:

OH, I have both! I have Libra on the ascendant and Aries on the 7th house. I have experienced everything you described! What a ride!

  • Marty Kennedy says:

This is totally resonating with me. Aries Sun, Taurus Moon, Libra Rising. The Full Moon was a tremendous release for me. Of all fear.

  • jeanie says:

Aries Rising with Libra in my relationship house. Cancer Sun/biz pioneer & mom. Very independent, relationships seek me as I have never been as interested in a beau/husband as my goals/dreams/adventures. I attract Libras & eventually agreed to marry one. Thankfully, he gives me a lot of space!
