Full moon in Aquarius
During this full moon in Aquarius I read some wisdom that I couldn’t let pass by:
“There is no need for temples,
No need for complicated philosophies.
My brain and my heart are my temples;
My philosophy is kindness.”
This wisdom from the Dalai Lama is perfect and beautiful in every way, but the full moon in Aquarius is asking for something more. So I’ve added a new line to the Dalai Lama’s quote, and I think you’re going to love it.

Before I reveal it, though, I want to tell you about the significance of this beautiful moon…
On the 24th of January, the heaven above us will reveal a full moon in Aquarius. The moon will be influenced by the flavor of Leo. Vibrant Leo loves to embody ‘human’ in loud color, offering validation to the ego and strengthening it. Aquarius wants to be freed of the ego.
Contrary to public belief, I have come to realize that we really do need an ego AND a soul. But not if you’re an Aquarius. You’d rather let go of your ego. Aquarians want everyone to be totally honest, unattached and uniquely yourself, no matter what.
What I love most about Aquarians is their ability to let go of trying to be “normal.” Aquarians can dissociate from expectations — especially the idea that they have to do anything they don’t want to.
Contrarian diets, unique clothing, humanitarian jobs, non-traditional families, living without a community, eccentricity … That’s Aquarius.
While most signs hate the feeling of being different, separate or alone, it doesn’t faze Aquarius in the least. They don’t need your validation. The Aquarian soul has committed to be, and do, anything they want — with or without your consent.
Aquarius loves standing apart, on the fringe, where they can observe human nature and give objective feedback. They’re the social scientists of the zodiac.
I remember being a teenager when my uniqueness sought me out. It demanded that I say things that were contrary, like: “I never want to have kids,” “I can’t imagine having my own home,” or “I’m never settling down.” I wanted to study human nature as a distant scientist, not as a participant — and I did.
My observations revealed how I was different. When I went to my best friend’s house and saw how her mom made her lunch every day, how her dad was at home for dinner, how her family went on holidays together and had family meetings, I stood in awe.
My world was nothing like my friend’s. I didn’t have a curfew. I didn’t have to clean my room. I never even learned how to do the dishes, or buy special soaps or makeup. I was left to fend for myself. But this was my one and only version of ‘normal,’ and I embraced it.

Decide For Yourself What ‘Normal’ Is
Every one of you had a particular pattern of ‘normal’ put in place by your family. And I bet those patterns have already changed. As an adult, you get to decide for yourself what ‘normal’ is and isn’t. We are living in a time where the rules have been made into soft clay that each of us is allowed to shape. And we can do it without the fear of being banished or rejected.
This is the Aquarian age. How freeing it is to live in a world where we can be different without reprisal.
So… In honor of the moon in Aquarius, I’ve added the following line to the Dalai Lama’s quote above:
There is no more normal.
I am always giving thanks for astrology because its language promotes acceptance and freedom at every level. And it does so with compassion and kindness.
In this full moon, look over at your life: Are you single? Are you married to a man who has children from his first marriage? Are you unemployed? None of this is ‘normal’ in the traditional sense. Nor is it wrong just because you are different. Remember: acceptance and freedom at every level.
There is no need for temples,
No need for complicated philosophies;
My brain and my heart are my temples.
My philosophy is kindness.
And, there is no more normal.
Amen. A-women. Aho.
