Sun in Sagittarius. Moon in Sagittarius.
Under this New Moon in Sagittarius, I am allowed to exaggerate, enter an altered state, and spend too much money on gifts, all in the name of fun and laughter. I am even allowed to make up stories. If people truly understood Astrology, I think many would secretly wish they were born under this sky, a double Sagittarius.
However, their story can go two ways. It can lead to real success or descend into pretense and failure. Some live behind a mask. Others become among the kindest and most genuine humanists you will ever meet. Sagittarius, like all of us, has a choice: perform indulgence or live embodied authenticity.
No matter how you look at it, they have the right attitude. Sagittarius is the only sign that instinctively walks away from negativity and into an effortless giggle, no matter the pain.
Let me tell you a story. I have a young, successful family member who has lived this tale perfectly. Recently, life, in a very unkind way, forced him to come clean about his Sagittarius pretense. After years of carrying too many secrets—and, by the way, all addictions start as a secret—the moment arrived. The rug was pulled out. The spotlight turned on and revealed an ugly addiction once and for all. This is often the case with Sagittarius.
This is only if the Sagittarius gets caught. Otherwise, that pretense can last an entire lifetime. Their secret, which often reveals an addiction, leaves them living alone while surrounded by family and friends. In true Sagittarius fashion, my family member’s addiction included endless secrets about relationships—and many of them.
Too many women to count. It was not always sexual. Often, it was flirting. He was addicted to constant distraction, especially through social media and the indulgences that came with it. Alcohol was involved, but never enough for anyone to call him out. He hid his addiction so well that no one knew.
In the end, life called him out. I could explain this Astrologically, but I will spare you the technicalities. All at once, his secrets went public. His wife asked for his phone for the first time. At the same moment, his fake identity was exposed on social media for all to see. Without sharing too many details, he spiraled into suicidal thoughts. That is when recovery began. In true Sagittarius fashion, he went to multiple clinics more than once and pretended there, too, until he finally surrendered.
Luckily, it was discovered there was a chemistry issue. He was bipolar. Many Sagittarius get this label or the ADHD label as a child. The truth is, his personality did not come with an off button—until life, and his chart, stopped him dead in his tracks.
Then came real-life medicine: the 12-step program. Name your addiction—AA, NA, SA. All revolve around one thing: the human need to be seen and understood. Without being seen and heard, we become dependent on whatever the addiction is to reduce the pain that pretending creates. Without a witness or a healer – including the 12-step program – there is no way to transmute pain into wisdom.
At their worst, Sagittarius says, “No, I have this. I do not need help. I am not an addict.” Or they do the opposite and say it plainly out loud, as required for the 12-step program to work: “Hi, I am ___, and I am an addict.” That strong, true, honest voice is the first step. It allows the smiling, positive, pretentious Sagittarius to move out of arrogance and into humility.
It is not easy to admit that I found something strangely satisfying in watching him hit bottom. The peak moment came when he had to tell his story to a room full of grown men, all of them weeping as they heard his truth. You faked it. You pretended. No one noticed. And for how long did you get away with it? How sad it is to live as someone you are not, and to be so afraid of being alone that you never allow the truth to be spoken.
This story is all of our stories.
Carl Jung said, “Loneliness does not come from having no people around you, but from being unable to communicate the things that seem important to you.”
Under this double Sagittarius sky, what is the addiction you want to confess to? Maybe it is too much sugar. Maybe it is laziness, social media, substances, or sex. This New Moon is an invitation to ask yourself a hard question.
Are you distracted from your true self? Do you pretend with yourself and with others, when in reality you are avoiding saying the truth out loud?
I am sad.
I am lonely.
I am scared.
I need help.
Start now. Speak the unspeakable and say what is really true. I would love to hear your heart.

Dear Debra,
I am Mona Mörtling from Sweden. Thanks for this text , and me too have to admit as a Sagittarius, that I am an alcoholic. ”Same” story as so many others; childhood trauma, mom was an alcoholic (and so many others in our families) very poor upbringing and struggling with economy all my adult life. It begun around age 15, and I’m working on stopping it now at age 62. I went to rehab and go to my AA meetings, but still have relapse’s now and then. Not happy about it at at all. I still have dreams I would like to make real, but also feel a bit unsure of my future, my purpose in this world.
I am unemployed since more than two years, so it is short of money. But wondering if you could help me with a reading for free, please?…. I am born in the north of Sweden, above the polar circle in a small village called Pajala in December the Second in 1963, at 03.41 am . I do know and feel I have some higher calling, but when will this dark rabbit hole I’m in, going to lead me back to light, love and purpose?….
Best regards from
Mona
Shopping, laziness, and social media.
Woah… Don’t come for me. Definitely below the belt! 😂 Seriously, thanks for the pep talk 💖♐️
I am deeply sad and lonely and comfort myself with sugar. I haven’t told my immediate family, I don’t want anyone to feel bad for me or make the feel sad.
Oh Debra…I think I am distracted from my true self , but that may only be in my own head. Double Libra…I drive myself crazy with my own thoughts and endless conversations. 11 years ago today my father passed and when he died I thought …I am free…but I am not … Yet…still working on the boundaries…astrology has always been a North Star for me…thank you for what you do and the info you provide…much love
I have a Sag moon. I’m just coming to grips with this side of me and I’m 64. I have had to take a good hard and gentle look at myself after my oldest daughter died by suicide. I have questioned my ways. And have intentionally mourned her and my true self. Not speaking up is my sad truth. Working on that. I am a Sag Moon.
Sometimes I’m selfish, sometimes I understand. As a Sag it feels good to be alive in the moment.
James
As a Sagittarius sun and moon and mercury I feel completely seen. Thank you i think. Well I ever bare my true skin? Who knows? But knowing that I’m not alone is comforting. Appreciate all of your work.
yes , i am sad, lonely, scared and fearful. I need help
I have several planets in sag (also sun and moon), and can relate. Found ACA (a 12 step program) a little over a year ago. This was exactly what i missed. I wanted to fix me/heal alone which is impossible. Thank you for spreading the word about the 12 step program <3 we heal together
I’m sad for allowing myself for allowing myself to going against my inner thoughts, heart, I knew better and didn’t listen. I just would love to know why? But probably would be another lie if he told me.
Thank you
Thanks
I’m a Capricorn with Venus and mercury in Sagittarius. I’m the strong one, the rock, the mother of my clan and I sacrifice my wellbeing for the greater good. If I’m to say it out loud (I’m usually very free and blunt when speaking to and about others) I’m trying not to unravel. Every day I learn of the fear and hate that is dissolving our current society I’m angry and feel helpless and exhausted. I’m a full time caregiver, but I’m neglecting myself. It’s manifesting into self harm and I know I need to stop it as it’s become a habit. I’m well aware that anxiety and fear are eroding my peace of mind and I need help to get through this. It’s gonna take faith, patience, love and support.
Leo with Sag rising. I will never let anyone see how needy I am. Let no one see the hurt and loneliness.
My north node is in Sagittarius and all of this information resonated deeply. I been losing close people around me a lot and it has stemmed from not being able to truly speak about how we really feel, and or being overlooked, unheard, unseen, not recognizing the pain you can cause or others have cause you. Yet it is true to walk away from negative emotions, people, patterns and or things no matter how painful. The journey doesn’t end. If it’s meant to come back full
Circle it will. If not live life freely and beautifully. It was a chapter and lesson in life with a new you, new direction and Gods plan 🤍🙏🩵
Peace&Love
I am a Sag sun and ascendant, I just got diagnosed with a 2nd cancer but trying to see the higher meaning of this.
I am a Sag North Node and just entered my 8 decade (70 yrs old). Once I found out and understood what Sag can mean I also found out that I am a Projector
in Human Design. All great things to know. I now understand my need for energy and how I can use it to my healthy advantage or to my detriment. I have calmed my system
and know how to pace myself and when to be in a room full of energy and when to leave. Leaving is OK. I would previously keep myself in that space feeding off of that
energy selfishly. I now feel in balance and it is great. Thanks for your post Debra! Always love what you bring forth!
I am fearful of not living up to what I know I can be. I am afraid of letting myself down. I am scared of not being accepted, even though most people would say I am. I am worried of being alone, like I feel most of the time already. And most of all I am afraid of being betrayed again, and others knowing and not me.
My mother was a Sagittarius sun sign. We had a challenging relationship and this helps me better understand her, our relationship, and myself. Thanks.
Sagittarius Sun, Moon and Mercury. I am learning to speak my Truth first of all to myself. I decided to divorce, because I was pretending to be happy while I felt trapped. I drank and smoked and bought too many clothes I’ll probably never even wear… Since I separated I quit smoking and drinking immediately. I am proud to say I am doing a good job at it. I choose my peace and calm over everything else now. I just turned 54… My biggest fear however is not finding my true soul purpose. And ending up sick and alone like my mother did… After all the negative experiences I’ve had romantically I fear I am just not good enough to be loved like a woman like me wants to be loved. I am even preparing myself mentally to stay single to avoid more disappointments.
Blessings for a wonderful 2026!❤️🪽🙏🏻✴️💫
