You might find this hard to believe… most of my adult life was spent suffering from a low-grade depressive state. No one could tell by looking; even though my best friends knew, it was just part of my personality. I suffered from too much caring. I had a love-hate relationship with being in a body because of it. The experience of being alive with so much collective pain was very difficult for me.

This is the song of every water personality: it hurts to be here. I just want to go home.

As an Astrologer, I realized it wasn’t just the pain from my childhood that I was carrying. It was the pain from the collective. Then I studied Water. I stared at those sensitive Water people, who didn’t speak much, and tried to listen to their hearts and feel their souls. I studied Scorpio.

I dated a man with four planets in Scorpio, his best friend a double Scorpio. I hung out with them a lot. I worked with, and continue to create with, a colleague who has five planets in Scorpio—after all these years, I just love working with her. That will never stop.

For myself, having a North Node (the indicator of how to get to your soul quickly) in Scorpio, you can imagine why this topic fascinates me. I have tried to embody it.

Because I found myself steeped in a quiet depression for over 30 years: I surrendered. I became friends with depression, I understood her needs: stillness, introversion, shamanic language, and the pursuit of my own deep hard truths. Yes, I studied my dark—and yours.

It didn’t hurt that my family roster is stacked with Scorpios and their big story; depression runs in the family.

Both my brothers were Scorpio.

Mom and Dad had Saturn in Scorpio.

My Dad was in the Jewish mafia.

My Grandfather was mysteriously murdered in downtown Detroit, when I was a baby.

This really set the stage for my fascination with all things Scorpionic and psychological.

As a child, I read Ann Landers. I couldn’t get enough of the newspaper advice columns. You know, the ones where people write in with “What should I do about so and so?” I loved that shit.

Then as a professional, I fearlessly for years sat with clients who had just lost a child, a parent, a lover and listened intently. To deeply listen is to offer one of the greatest healing tools to anyone in pain.

Give grief a voice… let them tell their story. I would feel their story of love, allow their old reality to exist for one more moment, one more breath, for one more chance to say it out loud.

I love to listen. This dark moon in Scorpio is asking you to do the same. There’s nothing wrong with depression (and for some people medication is the answer), it’s your soul’s way of calling your name.

Is it your pain that needs an ear?

Is it someone else who needs to be heard?

Can I listen to your story?

I know I have told you about Tell Me A Story before: but this is the place I love to listen, the most. It’s my writing workshop based on the elements.

It gives you the opportunity to come and sit with me through an intensive writing process where…guess what? You will tell me your story. Scorpio’s favorite thing.

Registration is open for November & December.

This double Scorpio sky may be highly emotional. Don’t make a mistake and think something is wrong, it’s your soul’s way of getting your attention.

Blessings,
Debra

The Journey to Hell Takes Us to Heaven…

The hardest most painful parts of my life have created the depth of my wisdom. However I could have never reached that without therapy, journaling and classes like TMAS. Now it’s your turn, let me hold your hand and show you how that works.

This course (TMAS) is a shortcut to:

1. Unpacking unconscious material that has been waiting for you to heal. Hiding in the back room.

2. Finding out there is a writer in you who wants nothing more than an opportunity to be creative and transparent, in the name of your healing.

We have spaces available in November & December. I wish I could, just like magic, have you appear so I can change your life. You have to sign up.

If you are stuck or you feel like you can’t get motion, this class is for you. I couldn’t imagine a better way to close 2021.

I love your writing, Debra! I love how your way of being and your unique perspective is felt in your words! I have a scorpio sun, 4 planets in scorpio in total, 6 planets in the 5th house in scorpio, and 3 (sun, mercury & saturn) of those 6 in scorpio. I love and feel deeply honoured by listening, hearing and seeing people in their stories, and this has shaped me in many ways, as I am now an Emotionl Release Therapist with a foundation of radical whole body listening!
I have learnt a lot from you, and your way of sharing you insight from the stars and planets! Thank you.

Hey I’m Scorpio sun in 5th ,with stellium in the 5th( Mars Mercury Sun Uranus and North Node). I feel deeply and usually understand people , listening their problems and then giving them support. It is not what I do as work but somehow people are willing to tell me their stories ( not only friends). Now I’m in a difficult time my self after loosing my husband ( a best friend and lover ) and feeling so lonely and without a purpose.

Try being born with a grand trine in water! The word “sensitivity” does not BEGIN to adequately describe it. And a Scorpio ascendant plus Venus and Saturn in Scorpio. I describe my early years as “swimming in angst.”

Here’s to the water people who always share your pain.

I have Sun and Moon in Scorpio, and i know there’s no other way but surrender, it’s true, pain is our greatest guide to enlightenment, if we allow it to be.

You know your story brought tears to my eyes as a matter of fact I cry and I have 2 brothers that’s scorpion as well as me I’m from the Caribbean and depression is a new thing here we are now hearing about it but I can assume that all my life I’ve listen and listen to everybody story about what’s going on in their lives and I do fine comfort in it because they get to say things that I try to deal with and I knowing that isn’t me alone that going through it I still just listen but never talk about me I have this persona that everything is okay I laugh a lot and happy a lot but then I just want to be left alone so I can ask myself all these questions. Thanks Debra!

I love listening to your moon readings. You are a great comedienne. I too have suffered from depression (moon conjunct Neptune in Scorpio plus Jupiter in Scorpio). There is a history of depression and suicide on both sides of my family. There is also a pattern of Scorpio/fire signs in most of my family members. I would love to tell you a story but for a number of reasons cannot do so at the moment. Just letting you know I appreciate your moon messages. Thank you.
